Before you book

Tips for choosing where to stay

  • Stay close to the beach road

Most restaurants, tour operators and the harbour are within walking distance of the main strip.

  • Book early for peak season

December through February is the busiest and best-value rooms sell out weeks ahead.

  • Ask about noise

Rooms directly above beach bars can be lively at night — ask for a quieter room if you prefer to sleep early.

  • Check the whale-watching pickup

Some hotels can arrange harbour transfers for early-morning tours — useful if you don't want to walk in the dark.
